It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down to write a blog post like this. Life has truly taken me on a journey I never could have imagined.
Over the past four years, I’ve experienced an overwhelming amount of loss. I’ve had to say goodbye to my father, my mother, and my brother. I’ve lost four cousins who were more like siblings, two aunts, four uncles, a mother-figure who was my children’s grandmother, and a father-figure who was their grandfather. It felt like crushing blow after crushing blow, with barely any time to breathe in between.
In the midst of all this, I was also facing my own health battle. After my brother’s death, I discovered I had a brain aneurysm. Almost a year ago, I underwent surgery, spent two and a half days in the ICU, and was released late on the third day. That was supposed to be my time to heal. Instead, on Valentine’s Day, I received a call that my mother had been rushed to the hospital. She was unresponsive and not doing well. The very next day, she passed away.
Fresh out of the hospital myself, I found myself planning my mother’s burial.
Life truly has a way of life-ing.
Through it all, God kept me. He strengthened me even when I didn’t understand why so much was happening at once. I continued to trust Him and His plans, even when my heart was heavy and my spirit was tired. This past year took a serious toll on me. I shut down emotionally, focused only on what was directly in front of me, and continued to pour into everyone else—while neglecting myself, my business, and my brand.
That season ends now.
The time has come for me to formally introduce (or reintroduce) you to my brand: It’s YO! Sauce LLC.
It’s YO! Sauce began in 2012 as something I created for myself—rooted in fresh herbs, bold flavors, and seasoning blends designed to bring health, spice, and real flavor to whatever you’re cooking. Over time, it grew into what it is today. I’ll be honest: I haven’t marketed or promoted it the way I should have. But that has changed. I will no longer sit in the background when God has always called me to stand firmly in front of what He placed in my hands.
My website is currently under construction, but soon you’ll be able to order directly from the site—everything from hot sauces, jerk sauces, and seasoning blends to herbal products and my cookbooks. When you subscribe to my website and YouTube channel, you’ll gain access to weekly recipes, updates, and behind-the-scenes looks at what’s cooking and what’s happening in the It’s YO! Sauce community.
I’m incredibly excited about these products. Those of you who have already tried them have given me amazing feedback, and I promise—it’s only getting better. At launch, the website will feature a limited selection of flavors, with more being introduced as I continue to build and grow. I’ll also be including sauce samples with any sauce or fresh herb blend orders.
